Happy New Year, A Little Late...

We have been very busy lately, just don't ask me what we've been up to... I can't believe it is the end of January and I still haven't put Christmas up on my blog. No excuse! As you can see, we had a wonderful time this Christmas. Kyler got a dinosaur painting kit and gave a dinosaur to Jack to paint...who knew he'd be the next Picasso? He spent about 20 minutes making sure every detail was covered. We also made it to the Museum of Natural History aka the Dinosaur Museum. It has to be one of Kyler's favorite places. From there we headed to the Mesa Temple for the lights. It was just beautiful. We haven't been for a few years and it was a great time! Jack and Kyler are both doing well in school... I'm already freaking out over next year. Where to send them for kindergarten is so stressful! I promise to be better this year updating my blog...

Disney Mania

YES! We made it back to Disneyland. A very short trip, but still TONS of fun. It may have been more fun because it was only about 6 weeks since our last trip and Jack and Kyler remembered everything!

Spiderman and T-rex made their appearance this year! Kyler was hilarious. He told everyone when he was all done "Give me candy so I can go home and have a bath!". Jack just tried to get past everyone and walk into each home. It was a great night!

We LOVE Disneyland. We had such a great time this trip. We were lucky enough to go with my mom and meet my Aunt Connie there for a few hours the first day. Jack loved Disney Junior live and Big Thunder Mountain and Kyler loved the Go Coaster and Toy Story Mania. It was a blast!

Warm Weather

I feel as though fall will never make an appearance, although the evenings have been magnificent lately. We are able to play outside from 5:30 to 6:30 now... The boys are having so much fun. It is almost like Christmas again...they have all of their riding toys to play with that they haven't seen since May. Put away the pool toys and bring out the Jeep!

Phoenix Zoo

We had such a great time at the Phoenix Zoo for Winter in July. There really wasn't enough snow to mention, but they gave out frozen treats to the animals so we were able to see more than what we would normally see. It was a great time and wasn't too hot at 7 am!

I just wanted to keep in touch with all of you about what we've been up to this summer so far, but I haven't had a lot of time, so here is the quick synopsis. Up top is Jack loving his swimming lessons. He actually LOVES the pool like a normal person would, unlike Kyler who must be 78% fish, 22% human. I swear, this is what we do all day - SWIM! Oh, no we don't go to movies, because they are loud and dark. We get up early and exercise so that we can make and eat tons of pancakes for breakfast everyday, then swim, then go to the store to buy flour and syrup, then swim again. Oh yeah, there's Jack's therapy, then swimming... that is what summer is for, right?

Jack and Kyler were lucky enough to be in swim lessons for two weeks with a woman from our community, Marci. She was so great and the boys just LOVED her, and the heated pool! They have a two week reprieve and will be back at it the end of the month. Jack actually loved hunting for Easter eggs, even though the picture doesn't quite show his appreciation. Kyler picked up one and then dug into the candy, but they sure loved everything about Easter this year. Thanks to our families we had 3 hunts at home and a hunt at school too. You can only imagine all of the candy that Mommy and Daddy are eating, still...

Early Bird Birthday!

Year #4 was a success! We had to do a party a little early since Pepe will be out of town on their birthday, but we had so much fun. Chick-fil-A was having their family day with a bounce house, so we decided to take advantage of the free fun! Jack and Kyler had a great time and shared their party favors with some of the other kids there. They we lucky to be able to celebrate with Aunt Amber, Uncle Tim, cousins Allie and Jenna, Grandma and Grandpa Peterson, Great Grandma Peggy, and, of course, mom and dad. I can't believe it has been 4 years!

These two are peas in a pod. Kyler LOVES Jenna. They have so much fun together and laugh at each other, it is so cute. Kyler actually talks so much about Jenna that he has Jack saying "Je-na" all of the time. So stinkin' cute. I was able to capture this moment of Kyler driving his cousin around our backyard in his Jeep. Oh, and yes, he did let her drive, too!

Disneyland

We had such a great trip to Disneyland! The boys met Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Eeyore, Captain Hook, Chip, and Dale. It was so great. Jack loved the Its a Small World ride and Kyler put his hands up on the Go Coaster in ToonTown. It was such a great trip and we are all sad to be back home, but we're already planning the next one!

So sorry it has been so long since I've posted. Jack and Kyler are doing great! They love school and are super excited for our upcoming trip to Disneyland! They have been preparing themselves by watching the Disneyland documentaries and singing "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me!"

They even learned to discern which presents were clothing, so they gave them to mommy to open. So, Kyler has started a new tradition. Apparently, he feels that when we are bored we should take off our pants and wear them as a hat. He did this to himself the other day. I was cracking up. He walked around with a flashlight and a popsicle and his pajamas on his headfor 30 minutes. Then he got bored again.

Jack is doing sooooo well. He loves school and is talking up a storm. We all just sit and laugh at him having conversations with his cars and little people. He is totally into Speed Racer and Hot Wheels movies, which is a welcome change from Thomas the Train and Elmo, but can still be just as annoying after a while.

As for me, I'm still hanging in there. I have been accepted back into college (yes, seriously) because one bachelors degree just isn't enough. I missed the registration for fall semester, which is good because of the crazy move, but I'll be taking classes in January to get into nursing school. Yay. Finally. I've been wanting to do this forever, but finally feel like I might have the time. Other than that, life is just passing me by...

First Day of School

These little guys couldn't wait for school to start! They just love every second of it. So does mom. Except for the obligatory first week of school sickness and ear infection that comes along with it. This first weekend has been full of naps and medication, but it is worth it. Kyler and Jack are growing and learning so much everyday. It is so great to see them come home with artwork and praises from their teachers.

We've been up to no good this summer. Lots of swimming and fun activities as well as movies and games. We've stayed pretty close to home this summer, but we've had lots of fun times. Jack decided that he wants to talk, afterall. Fun! He also LOVES McDonald's ice cream cones. Kyler is enjoying spending time with Mommy since Jack has lots of therapy this summer. We get to see the pets at Petsmart all of the time. We also stopped napping during the day, as you can tell from the above photo. We're just having too much fun!

Tonsillectomy and Adnoidectomy Follies

I have been meaning to put these pictures on for a while. These are the cutest muscle shirts that Great Aunt Connie and Great Uncle Ron gave the boys a while back. So fun! Thanks for these. Okay, updates on the boys:

Jack is TALKING!!! He is saying "no" and "all done" and "nigh night" and "bye bye" and "please" and "car" and "go" and "banana" and "juice" and "water" and I could go on all day. We are so excited!!! He's loving the pool and is learning to swim so quickly. He jumps from the edge with no hesitation. My little frog.

Kyler had his surgery last Monday. He is doing great. Just a few complications with being allergic to his pain killers, but he ate a cheeseburger and fries today, so I think we're on the downhill slope! He is also loving the pool. He's not as fearless as Jack, but he's no girl :)

We're just loving playing in the pool and having a hot summer!

Last Day of School!

Jack and Kyler's last day of preschool was today! I can't believe it! They had a final assembly where the classes got up and sang a few songs and then had a virtual scrapbook of pictures for parents to see. It was sooooo cute. Jack tried to sing and do the movements and Kyler was hilarious! He was singing so loud and clapping at the end of each song. He motivated the parents to start clapping at one point! We can't wait for school to start again in August!

Phoenix Zoo

We finally took the boys to the zoo a week ago and they loved it. Kyler liked seeing the petting zoo, but not actually touching any animals. Jack wanted nothing to do with it. They loved watching the giraffes, tigers, elephants and lions from afar. The carousel is always such a fun attraction, too!

Sweet Jack loves eating with a fork, even when eating toast! He is getting sooooo big. Kyler has horrible allergies, so he loves to lock himself in the dog kennel with Gus. He sits on him and plays with his ears and generally just loves him. Then, 1 minute later, he can't breathe and is itchy. LOVE IT!!!! Also, a photo of Kyler Picasso with paint. Yes, moms, of course it is washable! We are just having soooo much fun!

I honestly think that these might be the happiest kids on the planet. They love life. Kyler has begun his "camera persona" at a young age. Every time I bring out the camera he turns into Krazy Kyler. Jack is just usually annoyed at the huge black thing pointed at his face. The weather here is gorgeous, so Kyler is outside about 8 hours a day... just wandering around and looking at the landscape. Quite contently, too.

So, I went to Ikea on Friday with Mom and found this great tent for the boys for cheap. They absolutely LOVE it, as you can tell. Jack puts all of his cars inside and then rolls the tent over and over all around the floor. Kyler can't stop laughing. It is hilarious. Fun times at the Aroca house.

Not Enough Time!

I am so sorry that there are no pictures of the boys, but we have been sooooo busy lately. Well, we've been at McDonald's a lot because they LOVE to play there. It has been raining and so that has been our hangout. Also, Jack has been sick with strep throat and I had a cold. Now it seems like we are starting an endless stream of appointments so it has been rather chaotic around here. We are all doing well, though. Kyler is just blossoming like crazy. He can count to 12 on his own without skipping any numbers and knows all of his shapes (his favorite is a triangle). Jack is loving interacting with other kids all of the time and impresses me constantly with the things that he knows. Dare I say I have the smartest kids ever? Well, okay. Maybe not ever, but close. They are sooooo fun!

Okay, so the boys got tricycles for Christmas, which they absolutely LOVE. So, here is Jack watching tv upside down while on his trike. Classic Jack, ladies and gentlemen!

Next, we have the binky kid on his trike. I swear, Kyler rarely ever has a binky, but when the camera comes out, the binky goes in...

Who are those debonair young chaps with the balloons you ask? None other than the lady killers, Jack and Kyler. Grandma got them these suits, but they are so skinny that the pants didn't fit so we opted for jeans instead.

Lastly, Santa. Kyler crawled right up to Santa and sat down without any fear. Jack was fine too, of course, because he had his three security blankets (I mean security cars) with him!

So, we finally got our tree up at the beginning of the month and I tried to put all of the "good" ornaments towards the top of the tree. I had no idea these guys were so tall. Seriously. Where or where has our little camera gone? Oh, yeah. Here it is, right by the computer... Okay so I'm not the best picture taker lately but we've been BUSY. Jack and Kyler are fantastic. Kyler says the funniest things, ie.:

(in the middle of church) "go, please?",
he picks up the phone, puts it to his ear and says, "who is it?" then hangs up,
any time there is a crisis he yells "JJJJAAAACCCCKKK!" because it's never his fault,
at the doctors office when they finally call our name he says "All done!"

I just love this stage of exploring. Jack is coming along... fish is a new one for him as well as bye, bye. He is getting really good at sign language though. He signs "more", "please", "book", "play" and he is dragging me around the house when he needs something.

We are all so happy and are getting ready to put up the Christmas tree so I'll post photos soon!

Pumpkin Pickin'

We went to the Botanical Gardens Pumpkin Festival today with Amber, Grandma, Allie, and Jenna. We had so much fun. Jack was trying to put all of the pumkins in the John Deere tracktor, with the help of Lightning McQueen, of course. Kyler loved the chickens in the petting zoo. He kept saying "Please Birds". Sooooo cute. As you can see from the family photo, there was no stopping them to get a good picture. Thanks to Grandma and Amber for the fun day!

Wrinkle Free

So, I haven't updated in a while and was trying to think of what we've been up to lately and this is pretty much it. Day to day chores like vacuuming and laundry. Obviously these guys are huge helpers. First we fold, then throw on the floor, then fold, then sit on the folded clothes in the basket, throw on the floor, then fold again. It is an endless cycle, but they sure have fun.

California Vacation

We just came home from such a great trip to Disneyland and SeaWorld. Grandma and Grandpa were kind enough to come with us and help with the kids. Jack and Kyler had a blast. We went to 2 character breakfasts and met a lot of our "heroes". There is the whole family with Minnie Mouse, Jack kissing Lightning McQueen, Kyler with Pooh, and Jack giving Tigger a high five. We couldn't have had more fun if we were there 5 more days! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for putting up with us and helping us soooo much. We love you!

Fun With Balls

These are the moments that make life great. I LOVE spending time with Jack and Kyler and LOVE it when they are happy, which is most of the time. Lucky me! They are growing up so fast and learning new things all of the time. Kyler has about 20 words in his vocabulary now. My favorite is "wow". He has such a cute little voice. Jack is coming along; he is doing really well with his sign language now. Life doesn't get much better than this!

Growing Up

Today was the first day that we didn't have the boys in high chairs. I just thought that they were big boys now. When we go out to eat, they sit in regular chairs, so why not at home? They did great. Kyler did walk around a lot, but I finally got him to sit still and EAT. I can't believe how fast they really grow!

1. I wish I could go back in time and meet my Mom's grandfather on her Mom's side. I feel this really weird bond to him and think of him often.
2. I like to dance to 80's music with Jack and Kyler when no one else is around.
3. I miss everything about living in Georgia.
4. I think it is the cutest thing when Kyler has a tantrum and throws himself on the floor. I laugh so hard and hug him.
5. I have an unsatiable appetite for Diet Cherry Coke.
6. I LOVE to run and walk and jog and lift weights and any kind of exercise.
7. My favorite fast food is McDonald's.
8. I remember everything, especially if it isn't important.
9. I love so many people in my life that probably don't know it.
10. I am grateful for every second that I have with Pepe, Jack and Kyler.

Cars!

Here are two boys who can't get enough of the movie Cars. Jack especially. He LOVES it. I am not sure what happened but I put it on for them last weekend and he now begs to watch it everyday. It's so funny, but it is starting to get old, too. I just wish there was another Disney movie out there similar so that we could alternate. Kyler still loves Monsters, Inc. so that is something else that we watch frequently!

Jack and Kyler LOVE the pool. Kyler especially loves his new "flotation device" that Grandma got him. The other pictures are of the boys getting ready for church this morning. Pepe came home from a work trip to Colorado with this cowboy hat. Kyler loved it and wanted it on his head, but Jack wanted nothing to do with it. He was much happier after the picture was taken and we took it off. The boys are still sick, which isn't fun for mommy, but I'm living thru it. Two weeks of yucky tummies is not my idea of a summer vacation!!!

We have been swimming a ton in our pool and going to the splash park and the school swimming pool as well. The boys absolutely love the water and have NO FEAR. Of course, that means that mom is full of fear for the both of them. It's getting hotter, but we're enjoying it in the water!

We are not typical celebrators of Cinco de Mayo, but Kyler wanted to be sure to get some partying in today. We went to a ward luau on Saturday night and he brought home this lei and had to put it on today. He loves it so much, so, inevitably, Jack loves to steal it from him and run around the house laughing. They are quite a pair these days.

Jack and Kyler got a sweet ride for Easter this year... this new wagon! Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa! They also had a fun Easter egg hunt at both the Aroca and Peterson house.

Jack really got into finding the eggs this year, but mostly he cared about eating the chocolate bunnies that were in his basket. He also loves to eat the Nerds!

Okay, so the first two pictures were just of the boys today because I thought they looked cute in their little shirts with collars. The third picture is of them watching Monsters, Inc. and I thought it was cute how they were so worried during the scene at the sushi restaraunt with the emergency vehicles and sirens. The last picture is of our sweet little boys socks and pants being hung out to dry. I have started hanging our clothes out instead of using our dryer with such nice weather that we've been having. It saves so much time and energy costs, so why not? Oh, and it's GREEN too!

Jack and Kyler love their winter pajamas and are going to miss them soon. The weather here has really been heating up! They wear shorts now, which is really new, and have to have the air conditioning turned on during naptime! Yuck. Anyway, they are doing great and are loving life. They are understanding and communicating more and more everyday. It is such a fun age, too!

The start of warm weather is here. The boys are out enjoying the fresh sunshine while they can...before it is too hot! They are doing great and enjoying each other. Kyler has taken it upon himself to try to give Jack a sippy cup constantly, which is really funny. They are growing up everyday.

The Slide

After days of boredom...(you know, a zillion toys and nothing to do) we went out and bought a slide for the boys. Do you think they like it? Oh, yes. They still can't climb up the steps to get on themselves, but they are attempting it more and more. Kyler loves to push Jack down from the back. It is actually pretty funny.

We took them to Paradise Bakery for dinner the other night and they ate a turkey sandwich with Havarti cheese. I can give them the same thing at home and they won't touch it. I just don't get it... I guess it is the ambiance that they miss!!!

Silliness

Jack and Kyler decided that they could climb on and off the couch easier and faster if the cushion was removed. This is them enjoying their new found glory. It is the little things in life. As I type this Kyler is giggling while watching Tigger bounce on tv. They are getting so big and so mischevious. Last night I was washing dishes at the sink and stepped back onto Kyler's train that he was pushing around the kitchen island. He started whining and I asked him what happened and he grabbed my hand and put it on his foot. Evidently I had kicked the train into his foot. It was a cute moment. Jack has decided that he loves crayons. He will color a little, but mostly it is fun to dump them out of the box and put them all back. Hey, as long as they clean up their mess!!

Well, this has been quite an uneventful week, so I'll just share some old photos that I think are cute. These were taken after our trip to San Antonio, Texas in October of 2007. Very sweet boys. Okay, as for me...

Yesterday I... got up at 7. Ran 3.2 miles, spent 1 hour with weights, fed the boys breakfast, vacuumed and mopped the floors, took a shower, bathed the boys, did the laundry, went Visiting Teaching. Okay now it is noon. I went to the Queen Creek Library, which is relatively new and checked out a book I've been wanting to read forever: Pravda, by Edward Docx. He wrote The Calligrapher, which I loved. Went home, fed boys lunch, changed them, cleaned kitchen, kids down for nap....Ahhhhh. My time. 2 1/2 hours of ME! Of course, I ate lunch (first meal of the day) and then dove into my new book. Okay, so 4:30 get boys, change them and kiss them till they scream. Mom and Uncle Ron and Aunt Connie came for a visit around 5:45. Fun to chat with adults. Dinner for me and the boys, then read some books, watch some Mickey Mouse, change into pjs and nighty night Jack and Kyler. Oh yes, Pepe came home in the middle of dinner and then left at the end of dinner for soccer practice. Then ME time once more and off to bed. Geez, that seems like a lot, but wasn't a big day for us. Who wouldn't take orders from top executives that had blankies and binkies?

Jack and Kyler just looked so cute I couldn't resist taking yet another picture. They were spinning in their desk chairs and loving it. It is so refreshing to be able to entertain children with such little things. I spend my days singing the wheels on the bus and spinning them in chairs and they think I'm the best thing ever. What more could I ask?

I love that Jack gets a huge smile on his face when I sing the Sleeping Beauty song to him and he claps incessently when I'm finished. My little sweet potato is getting to be such a big boy!

I love that Kyler loves Chex cereal and is eating lunch meat like a champ! Finally, the kid will eat more than just goldfish and yogurt! Pizza crust at Costco...gimme more! Cookies at Target...yessss! Meat and cheese from Subway....bring it on!

They are getting so fun!

Just having a fun day hanging out. Kyler loves his vacuum and will clean up the whole house on a daily basis. Jack just got a new set of stacking cups and he loves playing with them.

They just love their toothbrushes. I guess our dentist would be proud. They walk around all day brushing. I can't complain, I guess. I am actually thrilled!

We've officially started going to church at 8 AM. Can you tell that Kyler needs some more sleep? Jack was pretty much ready to go with his striped cardigan! So cute!!!

Of course Jack thinks that he can push the lawnmower around for us. Maybe in a few years... Kyler certainly loves being outside. If he isn't riding his 4-wheeler, he's pushing it around and Jack loves throwing the ball around!
